Will you pick up just one item?
Yes. One couch, one fridge or one mattress set is a normal pickup. Text a photo of the item and the way out, and we text back a price. Same-day service most days when you reach us by early afternoon; next-morning slots are common. Nothing to prep: no bagging, staging or carrying to the curb. We take it from where it sits.
What we take
- One couch, sectional, recliner or massage chair
- One fridge, freezer, washer, dryer or stove
- One mattress set: mattress, box spring and frame
- One treadmill or piece of exercise equipment
- One dresser, desk, table or bookshelf
Ask us first
- Safes and other very heavy single items: send a photo and we'll tell you.
- Furniture or mattresses with bed bugs or other pests: ask us first.
- We don't take paint, chemicals (like motor oil and solvents), tires, asbestos, medical waste, ammunition or propane tanks, empty or full. We'll point you to the right drop-off.
How it works
Most jobs go from first text to swept-up driveway the same way.
How much does single item pickup cost?
A single item is priced at our minimum unless stairs, a long carry, size or weight add labor. An upstairs sectional takes more work than a recliner by the front door.
Text us a few photos and your ZIP. You get a price back by text, and that's the number you pay unless what's there is different from what was in the photos.
Fastest quote: text photos of your items to (909) 566-3090.
Most pickups aren't whole houses. They're one couch that won't fit the new living room, one fridge that died, one mattress set after a new one arrives. Here's how a one-item job works and when the city's free pickup is the better deal.
What's included, step by step
- Two photos. One of the item and one of the way out: the stairs, the hallway, the gate. That's enough for a price.
- A price and a time by text. Same-day service most days when you reach us by early afternoon; next-morning slots are common.
- A walkthrough on arrival. Before we start, the crew walks through with you, confirms exactly what's going and the final price, and can do the job in the same visit.
- The carry. The crew takes it from wherever it sits. Nothing to prep: no bagging, staging or carrying to the curb. We take it from where it sits.
- Swept up. The spot where it stood gets swept before the crew leaves.
Before a single-item pickup
- Empty drawers, shelves and sofa cushions.
- Unplug and empty a fridge or freezer, and leave the doors open to dry if you can.
- Unplug power recliners and massage chairs and tuck the cord under the seat.
- If the item is hardwired or connected to gas or water, have it disconnected first.
- Clear a path: move rugs, plants and framed art out of the way.
- Tell us about stairs, elevators and where a truck can stop.
What we take as a single item
- Seating. A couch, loveseat, sectional, recliner or massage chair.
- Appliances. We take all appliances, including fridges, freezers, stoves, washers and dryers.
- Beds. A mattress set: mattress, box spring and frame.
- Fitness. A treadmill, elliptical or weight bench.
- Everything else in a room. A dresser, desk, table or bookshelf.
Safes and other very heavy single pieces: send a photo first and we'll tell you whether it's one we can take.
What affects the price
- Where it is. A recliner by the front door is quicker than a sectional in an upstairs bedroom.
- Stairs and the carry. Walk-ups, long hallways and narrow side yards add labor.
- Size and weight. Sleeper sofas, French-door fridges and solid-wood dressers are heavier than they look.
- Loading access. In Burbank, a yellow curb allows loading for up to 20 minutes between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. unless signs say otherwise,[1] which is usually enough for one piece.
Free city options vs. paying a hauler
For one item, the city's bulky pickup is often free. The catch is that you carry it to the curb and wait for the booked day.
| City | One couch or chair | One appliance |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles | Free; furniture is on LA Sanitation's bulky list[2] | Free for homes with LA Sanitation curbside service[3] |
| Burbank | No fee for couches, chairs, dressers or tables[4] | $12.14 per appliance[4] |
| Glendale | Furniture is on the bulky pickup list[5] | Free for residents[6] |
| Pasadena | Counts toward two free pickups a year[7] | No fridges or AC units[8] |
LA's free program covers homes LA Sanitation services, booked at least one business day before your trash day.[2] Pasadena won't take any single item heavier than two people can safely lift.[8] For a mattress, the Bye Bye Mattress program's participating sites take old mattresses at no additional cost.[9],[10]
Don't leave it out for someone to take: leaving furniture on public or private property without permission is illegal dumping,[11] with a first-conviction fine of $250 to $1,000.[11]
A crew makes sense when the item is inside or upstairs, when you can't wait for the booked day, or when your city charges for it or won't take it. The city pickup vs. private hauler comparison goes into more detail.

Where it goes afterward
We donate items that are in fair shape so they get a second life, and recycle what we can. When your items are donated, you'll get a donation receipt from the drop-off location within 14 business days. Goodwill Southern California only accepts clean, sellable items,[12] so a worn or broken piece is recycled or disposed of. Metal frames and appliances go for scrap and recycling.

What customers said about this job
I had a great experience with Legacy! I submitted a form online to remove a loveseat and ottoman in North Hollywood, and Ricardo got back to me right away. He gave me a quote and said they had a slot open the following morning. Carlos and Brian came at the top of the hour and they had my furniture removed within five minutes. They were very professional and friendly. I shopped around to compare prices and Legacy was the most reasonable option. Glad I chose them and I would highly recommend!
amazing! these guys picked up an old couch from my weirdly shaped apartment and were friendly and reliable!
Ricardo was fantastic!! Very responsive, great follow through and completely professional. The hauled away a couch, table/chairs and box spring. I would definitely hire them again!! …

Single item pickup: questions
How much does it cost to pick up one item?
A single item is priced at our minimum unless stairs, a long carry, size or weight add labor. Text one photo of the item and one of the way out, and you get the exact number by text before you book. Before we start, the crew walks through with you, confirms exactly what's going and the final price, and can do the job in the same visit.
Can you come today for just one item?
Same-day service most days when you reach us by early afternoon; next-morning slots are common. One-item jobs are often the easiest to fit into an opening. Text the photo as early in the day as you can.
It's upstairs. Can you still take it?
Yes. The crew carries it down, and takes legs off or splits a sectional if that's what it takes to clear the stairs. Mention the floor, any tight turns and whether there's an elevator when you text.
Do I have to put it at the curb?
No. Nothing to prep: no bagging, staging or carrying to the curb. We take it from where it sits. If it's already at the curb or in the driveway, say so in your text and send a photo of where it sits.
Do I need to be home?
Tell us when you book. If the item is on a porch or in an open garage, or someone can let the crew in, the rest can often be handled by text. We give a one- to two-hour arrival window and call or text when the crew heads over.
Will you donate it?
We donate items that are in fair shape so they get a second life, and recycle what we can. When your items are donated, you'll get a donation receipt from the drop-off location within 14 business days. No one can promise a given item will be accepted, because charities turn away anything stained, broken or missing parts. If donation matters to you, say so before loading.
