How does above-ground pool removal work?
Drain the pool fully, well after the last chemical dose, then text us photos of it and the path to the street. We text back a price. The crew takes down the walls, liner and frame, carries everything to the truck and sweeps up where the pool stood.
What we take
- Above-ground pools
- Pool walls and frames
- Pool liners
Ask us first
- Drain it first, well after the last chemical dose.
- Pool chemicals: pull them out first; they go to hazardous waste.
- We don't take paint, chemicals (like motor oil and solvents), tires, asbestos, medical waste, ammunition or propane tanks, empty or full. We'll point you to the right drop-off.
How it works
Most jobs go from first text to swept-up driveway the same way.
How much does above-ground pool removal cost?
Pricing is based on how much truck space your items take up, plus labor. Free photo quotes by text: send photos and get an exact price. Stairs, long carries and heavy material like concrete or dirt change the number. Your quote includes loading, hauling, disposal and sweep-up. The price we quote is the price you pay.
Text us a few photos and your ZIP. You get a price back by text, and that's the number you pay unless what's there is different from what was in the photos.

Taking down an above-ground pool is mostly labor once it's empty. The part that takes planning is the water and the chemicals, and that has to happen before the crew arrives. Here's how above-ground pool removal works.
What's included, step by step
- Drain it. Fully, and well after the last chemical dose (see the rules below).
- Photos. Send the pool from a couple of angles and the path from the yard to the street.
- A price by text. Size and the carry factor in.
- Teardown. The crew takes down the walls, liner and frame.
- Carry-out and cleanup. Everything goes to the truck, and the footprint gets swept.
One customer had a 30-foot pool taken apart and hauled away:
I had a 30ft pool in my back yard it was SUPER HEAVY these guys came out went above and beyond and helped me disassemble it (was not part of the original agreement) and hauled it away super fast. If you’re looking for hard working and fast workers they are it. 100% recommend. Thank you! …
Before pool removal day
- Drain the pool fully, well after the last chemical dose.
- Never drain or backwash into the street or a storm drain.
- Pull out pool chemicals; they go to hazardous waste.
- Have an electrician disconnect any pump or lighting wiring.
- Tell us about a concrete pad or footings, and whether they stay.
California and LA rules that apply
LA County Public Works advises letting chemicals dissipate before draining, waiting at least five days after adding chemicals, and never backwashing a filter into the street or a storm drain.[1] Storm drains carry water to creeks and the ocean without treatment.[1] Pool chemicals are hazardous, not trash.[2]
What affects the price
- Size. A small family pool and a 30-foot pool are different jobs.
- Distance to the truck. Long backyard carries, stairs and narrow side yards take more time.
- What's around it. A pad, steps or a deck that should go too adds material.

Where it goes afterward
Metal walls and frames are scrap: SA Recycling's Sun Valley yards take metal,[3] and they ask anyone selling scrap for a government photo ID.[3] Chemicals leave the load and go to hazardous waste handling.

Above-ground pool removal: questions
Do I need to drain the pool first?
Yes. Drain it fully before the crew arrives, well after the last chemical dose. LA County Public Works advises letting chemicals dissipate and waiting at least five days after adding them before draining.
Where can the pool water go?
Not into the street or a storm drain. LA County says never to let pool water or filter backwash run into the street or storm drain, because storm drains carry water to creeks and the ocean without treatment.
What do you take down?
The walls, liner and frame. The crew takes them apart on site, carries the pieces to the truck and sweeps up where the pool stood.
What about leftover pool chemicals?
Pull them out before the crew arrives. In California, pool chemicals are hazardous waste and can't go in the trash, so they go to a household hazardous waste drop-off rather than in a junk load.
Can the metal frame be recycled?
Yes. Metal frames and walls are scrap. SA Recycling's Sun Valley yards take metal, and they ask anyone selling scrap for a government photo ID.
Can you take a playset or trampoline in the same visit?
Yes. Put everything in your photos so the price covers it all.
