Can I get junk removed today?
Often, yes. Text photos of what needs to go and your ZIP as early in the day as you can. We'll tell you right away if there's a same-day slot, and if there isn't, we'll offer the next morning. Customers across the Valley have had crews at the door within an hour or two of calling.
What we take
- Move-out leftovers and anything the new owner needs gone
- Furniture and mattresses
- Storm- or water-damaged items
- Garage and yard piles
- Appliances
Ask us first
- We don't take paint, chemicals (like motor oil and solvents), tires, asbestos, medical waste, ammunition or propane tanks, empty or full. We'll point you to the right drop-off.
How it works
Most jobs go from first text to swept-up driveway the same way.
How much does same-day junk removal cost?
Same-day jobs are priced the same way as any other: by truck space and labor. Text us a few photos and your ZIP. You get a price back by text, and that's the number you pay unless what's there is different from what was in the photos.
Fastest quote: text photos of your items to (909) 566-3090.
Most people who need junk gone today are up against something: a lease ending, a buyer's walk-through, a new tenant arriving, or a pile blocking the driveway. The details below explain how a same-day job gets scheduled, what can slow it down, and why the city's free options can't match the clock.
What's included, step by step
- Text early, with the deadline. Open 24 hours. Call or text anytime. Send photos of everything that's going, your ZIP, and the time it has to be gone by. The deadline helps us tell you right away if today works.
- A yes, or the next opening. If there's room on today's schedule, you'll hear it. If not, you'll be offered the next available slot, often the following morning.
- The price, before you commit. It comes by text, worked out on truck space and labor like any other job.
- A window and a heads-up. You get an arrival window and a text as the crew heads your way.
- One visit, everything out. Rooms, garage, patio and curbside piles are loaded in a single trip when everything fits the truck.
- Swept and done. The floor or driveway is swept, and you can send a photo to a landlord, agent or buyer right away.
For a fast turnaround
- Photograph every room or pile that's going, not just the biggest one.
- Say what has to stay: fixtures, appliances that convey with a sale, anything a landlord owns.
- Pull hazardous items (paint, chemicals, propane, batteries) aside or mention them in your text.
- Check the street for sweeping signs and find a spot where a truck can park legally.
- Have the gate code, lockbox code or building contact ready if you won't be there.
- If there's an elevator or loading dock, ask the building whether it needs to be reserved.
California and LA rules that apply
Nothing in state or city law stops a pickup from happening the same day. What the rules do is make the free alternatives slow, and put a few items on a schedule of their own.
City lead times. Each city's bulky program has a notice period, and none is same-day:
| City | How far ahead to book | Collection day |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles | At least 1 business day before trash day[1] | Your regular trash day |
| Burbank | 1 business day by phone, 2 online[2] | Trash day; oversize items the following Friday[2] |
| Glendale | At least 3 business days[3] | Monday pickup means booking by the prior Wednesday[4] |
| Pasadena | At least 2 weeks[5] | Your trash day |
| Altadena | At least 24 hours[6] | Next regular pickup day |
Move-out boxes in LA. LA Sanitation runs a separate Move-In/Move-Out pickup for bags and boxes on trash day, booked at least one business day ahead. Each bag or box can weigh up to 30 pounds and measure no more than 2 by 3 feet, and cardboard must be flattened and tied.[7]
Hazardous items run on weekends. LA's two Valley S.A.F.E. Centers, on Randall Street in Sun Valley and on Balboa Boulevard in Northridge, are open Saturday and Sunday only, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.[8],[9] Paint, chemicals and batteries found on a Tuesday may have to wait for the weekend.
Don't stage it early. Burbank asks for bulky items to go out no earlier than the night before,[2] Glendale after 6 p.m. the evening before,[3] and Pasadena no more than 24 hours early.[10] Glendale treats curb piles without an arranged pickup as illegal dumping,[11] and Pasadena can cite them.[5]
What affects the price
Same-day doesn't change how the number is worked out; the job itself does.
- Total volume. Rushed move-outs tend to grow once cabinets and closets get opened. Photos of every room keep the price accurate.
- Labor and access. Upstairs units, long hallways and courtyard buildings take more time than a garage by the curb.
- Heavy material. Dirt, tile, broken concrete and water-soaked items weigh far more than they look.
- Parking. LA cites cars parked on posted sweeping routes on sweeping day,[12] so a legal spot close to the door speeds the job.
- Mixed loads. A few items that need separate handling, like a mattress or an appliance, are fine. Flag them so the plan accounts for them.
Free city options vs. paying a hauler
Waiting is cheaper when you can afford to wait. The honest breakdown:
- Choose the city pickup if the items qualify, you can carry them to the curb, and your deadline is past the next available collection day. The guides for Los Angeles, Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena show how to book.
- Choose a LASAN drop-off event if you have a truck and the date lines up. They run on select Saturdays at the East Valley yard in Sun Valley and the West Valley yard in Northridge.[1]
- Haul it yourself if you have a truck and a free weekday. Sunshine Canyon in Sylmar is open weekdays 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday mornings,[13] but hand-unloaded loads must reach the scales earlier,[13] every load is charged a one-ton minimum,[14] and untarped loads draw an extra charge.[14]
- Pay for same-day when the deadline is today or tomorrow, the load is more than a curbside pile, or no one's available to carry it.
The city pickup vs. private hauler comparison goes into more detail.
Where it goes afterward
A same-day job follows the same path as any other. We donate items that are in fair shape so they get a second life, and recycle what we can. When your items are donated, you'll get a donation receipt from the drop-off location within 14 business days. The rest is disposed of. Speed doesn't change what donation centers will take. Goodwill Southern California, for example, only accepts clean, sellable items,[15] and Habitat LA ReStores refuse anything broken or missing parts.[16] If you want particular pieces to go to a charity yourself, pull them aside before the crew starts loading.

What customers said about this job
Legacy Junk Removal came the same day I called. I was moving out my house for the past week and had a bunch of junk furniture on the driveway just sitting there. 1-800-Junk would not send somebody to pick it up until next Friday. I called Legacy Junk Removal and they showed up within an hour and got the driveway looking pretty for the new owner. I will be using their services again in the future.
Legacy was great, I called at 9:30 in the morning, they showed up at 11 and hauled all the furniture out of my guest house in 30 minutes. They were very professional and polite. I highly recommend them.
Honestly the easiest junk hauling experience. Got a call back from Ricardo immediately after placing online request. Junk was removed on the same day and took less than 15 minutes. They were upfront with pricing. Employees were super kind and professional. I wish I had found this company for my previous junk hauls. Highly recommend!

Same-day junk removal: questions
What's the latest I can ask for a same-day pickup?
The earlier the better. Same-day service most days when you reach us by early afternoon; next-morning slots are common. Text photos the moment you know the job is coming, and you'll get an honest answer about whether today is still possible. Late-afternoon requests more often land on the next morning.
Does same-day cost more?
The price is worked out the same way as any other job: by truck space and labor. You see the exact number by text before you commit, so there's no surprise on the day.
Do I get a time window?
Yes. You get a window, and a text shortly before the crew arrives. One customer wrote that they were given a two-hour window and a text 20 minutes out.
What's the fastest free option in the City of LA?
LA Sanitation's bulky pickup, but it isn't same-day. You book at least one business day before your regular trash day, and items are collected on that trash day, so the wait depends on where you are in the week. Every item has to be named when you book.
How fast is Burbank's bulky pickup?
Burbank needs at least one business day's notice by phone or two business days online before your trash day. If crews can't take an item because of its size or weight, it's tagged and collected the following Friday.
How far ahead do Glendale and Pasadena need notice?
Glendale asks for at least three business days, with fixed cutoffs: for a Monday pickup, book by Wednesday of the week before. Pasadena needs at least two weeks' notice, and each home gets only two free pickups a year.
My tenant left furniture behind and the new tenant moves in tomorrow. Can you help?
That's a common same-day job. Send photos of each room and the move-in deadline. If today is full, a next-morning slot often still beats the turnover. For the rules on handling a former tenant's property, see the landlord guide and the official sources it links to.
Can I put things on the curb today for a pickup later this week?
Not safely. Pasadena can cite items set out without a scheduled pickup, Glendale treats unarranged curb piles as illegal dumping, and Burbank says to set bulky items out no earlier than the night before. Keep things inside until the booked day.
Can you take paint or chemicals on short notice?
We don't take paint, chemicals (like motor oil and solvents), tires, asbestos, medical waste, ammunition or propane tanks, empty or full. We'll point you to the right drop-off. If you'd rather take them yourself, LA's S.A.F.E. Centers in Sun Valley and Northridge are open Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., free for LA County residents.
What areas can you reach the same day?
Same-day is likeliest close to the North Hollywood base: the east and central Valley, Burbank, Studio City and nearby. Farther areas more often end up next day, though it depends on the day's schedule.
Do I have to be there when the crew arrives?
Not necessarily. If items are outside or in an open garage, or someone can let the crew in, you can confirm details by text and get a photo when the space is clear.
Is waiting for a scheduled pickup ever the better choice?
Yes. If your items qualify for your city's free bulky pickup and there's no deadline, waiting costs nothing. Same-day earns its price when a move-out inspection, a closing, a new tenant or a blocked driveway sets the clock.
