How does playset removal work?
Text us photos of the playset or swing set and the path from the yard to the street. We text back a price. Most wooden playsets are bolted together, so the crew takes them apart in large sections rather than cutting them up, carries the pieces out and sweeps up where it stood.
What we take
- Wooden playsets
- Metal playsets
- Swing sets
Ask us first
- Concrete slabs and post footings: tell us first; they change the price.
- We don't take paint, chemicals (like motor oil and solvents), tires, asbestos, medical waste, ammunition or propane tanks, empty or full. We'll point you to the right drop-off.
How it works
Most jobs go from first text to swept-up driveway the same way.
How much does playset removal cost?
Pricing is based on how much truck space your items take up, plus labor. Free photo quotes by text: send photos and get an exact price. Stairs, long carries and heavy material like concrete or dirt change the number. Your quote includes loading, hauling, disposal and sweep-up. The price we quote is the price you pay.
Text us a few photos and your ZIP. You get a price back by text, and that's the number you pay unless what's there is different from what was in the photos.
Fastest quote: text photos of your items to (909) 566-3090.
A wooden playset or a metal swing set comes down in sections: the crew unbolts it, carries the pieces out and sweeps the spot. Here's how playset and swing set removal works, and what changes the price.
What's included, step by step
- Photos. Send the playset from a couple of angles and the path from the yard to the street.
- A price by text. Size, material and the carry all factor in.
- Teardown. Wooden playsets are usually bolted together, so they come apart in large sections rather than being cut up.
- Carry-out. Sections and hardware are carried to the truck and loaded.
- Cleanup. The spot where it stood gets swept.
One customer summed up a job this way:
Great experience with Legacy Junk Removal. I was able to schedule next day. They showed up on time, took everything, broke down old play equipment, and even swept up. No hidden fees or overages. Would recommend and use again.
Another had a trampoline taken down along with a backyard cleanout:
Legacy Junk Removal came and cleaned out all of the junk I had in my back yard and garage. They even disassembled my giant trampoline and hauled it away as well. They were on time and professional. I recommend them highly! …
Before playset removal day
- Tell us if any posts are set in concrete.
- Take off anything you want to keep, like swings or a slide you plan to reuse, and label it.
- Mention whether the lumber is pressure-treated.
California and LA rules that apply
Chemically treated wood must be managed as hazardous waste,[1] and some wooden playsets are built from treated lumber.
What affects the price
- Size. A small swing set and a large wooden play fort are different jobs.
- Footings. Posts set in concrete add time and weight.
- Distance to the truck. Long backyard carries, stairs and narrow side yards take more time.
- Other junk. Anything else from the yard can go in the same load.
Free city options vs. paying a hauler
LA Sanitation lists large wood pieces among bulky items,[2] but it won't take construction materials such as concrete, bricks or dirt,[2] and crews pick up only what's on the work order.[3] Glendale's bulky pickup excludes construction materials and lumber,[4] and Pasadena's excludes construction and roofing material.[5]

Where it goes afterward
Clean, untreated wood counts as organic waste under SB 1383,[6] so it can be recovered rather than buried. Metal frames are scrap: SA Recycling's Sun Valley yards take metal,[7] and they ask anyone selling scrap for a government photo ID.[7] Treated wood leaves the load and goes to hazardous waste handling.

What customers said about this job
Legacy Junk Removal came and cleaned out all of the junk I had in my back yard and garage. They even disassembled my giant trampoline and hauled it away as well. They were on time and professional. I recommend them highly! …
Ricardo and Brian showed up the same morning and moved my annual junk pile quickly and cleanly, at a great price! Last year, I paid GotJunk twice as much and they took a perfectly good pop up canopy set that was not part of my junk pile and then couldn't find it afterwards. Not so with Legacy. Family owned and what a great family!
Having fell for flat rate scams, this is a game changer. After calling some services Ricardo was the most responsive, and reasonably priced with great energy. Sent pictures and got quoted and got them removed within 2 hours. They work fast and smart, highly recommend!

Playset removal: questions
Do you cut the playset up?
Usually not. Wooden playsets are mostly bolted together, so the crew takes them apart in large sections rather than cutting them up, then carries the sections to the truck. You don't need any tools of your own on hand.
Can you take a metal swing set?
Yes. Metal swing sets and frames come apart and go in the same load. The metal is scrap and can be recycled rather than buried.
What if the posts are set in concrete?
Tell us first. Concrete is heavy and changes the price, and posts set in concrete take more time than the bolted sections above ground.
Will you clean up the area?
Yes. After the last pieces are loaded, the crew sweeps up so the spot is clear. Tell us if the playset sat on dirt or wood chips; screws and bolts in the ground are worth a second look where kids play.
Will the City's bulky pickup take a playset?
Usually not as a whole. LA Sanitation lists large wood pieces among bulky items but won't take construction materials, and crews take only what's on the work order. Glendale won't take lumber or construction materials, and Pasadena excludes construction material.
Can you take other things from the yard in the same visit?
Yes. Put them in your photos so the price covers everything. One customer had a whole backyard and garage cleared along with a giant trampoline.
