Dumpster rental in Northridge
5.0 on Google from 463 reviews
Northridge is a big neighborhood with two kinds of housing in almost equal measure, and that shapes where a bin can go. This page covers renting one here: houses versus apartments, homes on busy boulevards, remodels of 1970s houses, and the West Valley drop-off sites that take what a bin can't.
Half houses, half apartments
The two main ZIPs look alike. In 91324, about 49% of housing units are detached houses and about 43% are in buildings of five or more units.[1] In 91325 the split is about 47% and 46%.[2] Roughly 53% of households in each ZIP rent.[1],[2]
At a house, the driveway is the normal spot. At an apartment or condo building, the bin needs a place in the lot or a garage apron, and that's the manager's or HOA's call before it's yours. Ask early, because a building may limit how long a bin can take up spaces.
15-yard bin: $479, with 1 ton of disposal, delivery and pickup included. 20-yard bin: $579, with 2 tons of disposal, delivery and pickup included. Rental length and any charge over the included weight are confirmed when you book. Prices are for addresses within about 10 miles of North Hollywood (91606). Farther out? Call or text for a price.Houses on the big boulevards
Northridge's main roads are Roscoe, Devonshire, Nordhoff, Corbin, Tampa and Reseda.[3] Plenty of houses face one of them, and that changes the placement question. A bin in the parking lane of a busy boulevard sits beside moving traffic, and a truck setting it down needs room to work.
On side streets, the usual watch-out is sweeping: posted routes are swept every other week, with tickets for vehicles left in the zone.[4]
Remodeling a house from around 1970
The median home in both main ZIPs was built in 1970.[1],[2] Remodels of houses that age tend to pull out kitchens, baths, flooring and old light fixtures, and a few of those items can't go in the bin:
- Fluorescent tubes and bulbs are banned from the trash in California.[5]
- Older caulk, glues, paint and fluorescent light ballasts may contain PCBs and are on the banned list.[5]
- Paint, even dried, can't go in the trash.[6]
Pull those out before demo starts and set them aside for a hazardous waste drop-off.
The West Valley drop-off sites
Two City sites in Northridge take things a bin can't, or things you'd rather not pay to haul.
- North Valley S.A.F.E. Center, 10241 N. Balboa Blvd., open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The line starts on Devonshire St. between Amestoy Ave. and Balboa Blvd.[7] It takes fluorescent bulbs, paint, solvents, pool chemicals, batteries and electronics,[8] up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds per visit.[8]
- LA Sanitation's West Valley yard, 8840 Vanalden Ave., hosts a free Saturday bulky drop-off once a month; the remaining 2026 dates are October 10, November 21 and December 12.[9] City residents can also drop up to four tires a year there on weekday mornings.[10]
These are City facilities, listed as general information.
We don't take paint, chemicals (like motor oil and solvents), tires, asbestos, medical waste, ammunition or propane tanks, empty or full. We'll point you to the right drop-off.Offices and commercial space
For an office or a small commercial building in Northridge, a bin works the same way it does at an apartment: the property manager picks the spot. LA Sanitation's free bulky pickup is for homes of one to four units,[9] so a business needs a private option either way. For a cleanout done in a day, a crew is usually simpler. Julie R. wrote on Google that she "had some junk removed from my office in Northridge," and that's the kind of job that doesn't need a bin at all.
Northridge bin prep
- At an apartment or condo, get the manager's or HOA's approval for the spot and the rental length.
- If your house faces a boulevard, plan for the driveway.
- Remove fluorescent tubes, ballasts and old paint before demo day.
- Note the next West Valley drop-off Saturday for bulky items you'd rather not bin.
- Pack hazardous items in the trunk, lids tight, for the Balboa Blvd. S.A.F.E. Center.
When a crew makes more sense than a bin
A bin earns its cost when you'll be adding debris for days. If everything is already sitting in the garage or the office, a crew loads it in one visit and nothing sits in your driveway. Same-day service most days when you reach us by early afternoon; next-morning slots are common.
Send photos, the address and your timing, and we'll tell you whether a bin or a pickup is the cheaper way to get it done.

Questions
Do you rent dumpsters in Northridge?
Yes. Northridge is a City of LA neighborhood, ZIPs 91324 and 91325 among others, and we rent 15-yard and 20-yard bins there. Rental length, weight limits and price are set when you book. Send the address, what you're clearing or tearing out, and where you'd like the bin, and we'll confirm the size and a drop-off day.
My house faces a busy boulevard. Where does the bin go?
Off the street if at all possible. On a big road like Reseda, Tampa or Devonshire, a bin in the parking lane sits right next to traffic. Most of the time the driveway is the easier answer.
We're redoing a kitchen from the 1970s. What can't go in the bin?
Old fluorescent tubes and bulbs are banned from the trash in California, and older caulk, glues, paint and fluorescent light ballasts may contain PCBs and are on the banned list too. Pull those out before demo starts. The North Valley S.A.F.E. Center on Balboa Blvd. takes fluorescent bulbs, paint and chemicals on weekends.
Where's the nearest place to drop off hazardous waste in Northridge?
The North Valley S.A.F.E. Center at 10241 N. Balboa Blvd., open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The line starts on Devonshire St. between Amestoy Ave. and Balboa Blvd. You stay in your car with the engine off while staff unload, so pack everything in the trunk with lids tight.
Can I rent a bin for an office cleanout in Northridge?
Yes, if the property manager approves a spot in the lot or loading area. LA Sanitation's free bulky pickup is for homes of one to four units, so offices need a private option. For desks, chairs and filing cabinets cleared in one day, a crew visit is often simpler than a bin that sits for a week.
Is there a free option before I rent anything?
For household items, yes. City homes with LA Sanitation service get free bulky item pickup, booked at least a business day before trash day. LA Sanitation's West Valley yard at 8840 Vanalden Ave. also hosts a free Saturday drop-off day once a month. Neither takes construction materials like concrete, bricks or dirt.
